the best decision – saying YES to Jesus

to say the least, i am writing this blog post with pure joy on my face! i am SO incredibly thankful that the Lord is leading me to share this with you. i can only hope and pray that this blog post, in some type of way, will encourage you and gear you towards Him. this may be a longer post, because i elaborate on things (WHOOPS). so, take a deep breath and let’s get into learning where to start with our GOOD God. ❤

**ddooooooo NOOOTT feel intimated, or feel like there is only one way to start in your faith. because there are different paths and routes to take for you to feel comfortable. i am sure things i will mention may not allow you to feel His presence like i do – because each person has their own relationship with God. don’t feel stressed out, don’t feel like you will do something wrong, and do NOT feel like these are rules. i can promise you that the Lord is ecstatic right now, just knowing you are interested and wanting to grow towards Him.

“If any of you wants to be MY follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the Good News, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels”. Mark 8:34-38

I LOVE this verse. I love it for so many different reasons, but i love it because I am putting myself down, in order to gain Christ. this is a long verse, so let’s break it down. this may be blunt – but i promise this is all out of LOVE & TRUTH. —

in order to be a follower of Jesus, you MUST turn from your own ways. that party your invited to? say no. that guy/girl you’re sleeping around with? drop it. the drugs/alcohol you are consuming? drop it. work being your first priority? fix it. the addiction you’re struggling with? seek help. pursuing what you want instead of the Lord? change it. whatever is causing you to be selfish, DROP IT. it is so much easier said than done, but it needs to be done. no matter how much time, effort, and help it takes, i encourage you to take it. we are a generation of selfishness and “my way only”. this will require a heart check & a reevaluation. we cannot be a follower and disciple of Jesus if we are putting things before Him. the next part of the verse is “taking up your cross”. leave the selfishness at His feet, and pick up the cross. pick up what the Lord provides. pick up His plan for your life. pick up the Bible, the double edged sword. pick up Jesus and do not look back. again, not easy, not going to happen overnight. but it CAN happen.

the remainder of the verse talks about your life compared to the life that God offers. if you try and find your life in this world, you will lose your soul. because the world is full of evil, hate, lust, judgment, temptation, addictions, etc. all of which doesn’t please God, grow His Kingdom, or glorify Him. HOWEVER, if we let go of our life and gain the Lord, our life will be saved, our soul will be restored. so the question is – world or Jesus? soul or no soul? you have free will on this question, my dear friends. ❤ it is never too late to say YES TO JESUS!

now that we have covered that this life cannot be about us, but Jesus, let’s see how we can start to grow in our relationship with Him. PRAYYERRR!!! nothing can compare to how powerful prayer is. there isn’t one prayer ignored. there isn’t one prayer that isn’t answered (even if its the answer we don’t want). the most amazing thing about prayer is, we are praying to the Father, the Mighty One, the Healer, the Counselor, the Son, the Redeemer, the Forgiver, the one & only God. ❤ He is a God of miracles, so don’t doubt for a second that He doesn’t hear you! i encourage you to pray for God to give you the desire to long for Him, pray that He will provide you the strength to turn from your ways, pray that He will open your heart, ask for forgiveness of your sins, that He would make you pure again, pray that He will send the Holy Spirit upon you, pray that His presence will be known. pray the most meaningful, truthful prayer. EVEN TELL God that you are confused and don’t know where to start. He knows your heart and intentions – there isn’t anything you can say wrong. ask God to come into your life. (AAHHH THIS IS SO AWESOME!!)

“If my people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place”. 2 Chronicles 7:14-15

YAY! the BEST PART, His Word!! find a version of the Bible that you can understand the most. i deff wouldn’t recommend the King James Version if you are just starting out. for starters – start with the NIV, NLT, MSG, CEB, or ESV. these are all versions i go back and forth with – and it is much simpler to understand and comprehend. go ahead, go download the Bible app! it will send you verses of the day, you can switch translations, it can go story by story, and even has devotionals. 🙂

to those who haven’t ever read the Bible, let me tell ya’ll something. you are about to experience miracles, joy, peace, comfort, knowledge, and GROWTH! i call the Bible my medicine cabinet. everything i am feeling/struggling with; the answers can be found within. now, you do not need to start from the beginning, in Genesis and read in order. in fact, i recommend starting in John, Romans, Philippians, or Hebrews. John is about the birth of Jesus, miracles He performed, prayers He prayed, the crucifixion, the resurrection, and the ascension of Jesus. Romans, Philippians and Hebrews are 3 of many letters, that Paul wrote (who was in prison for sharing the Gospel). these books will help you live a life that glorifies Him, and how to grow closer to Jesus. they are easy to relate to your life, and put them in practice. ❤

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work”. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

i don’t want to stress anyone out so i’m stopping here. i could go on and on, but again, this isn’t something to overthink or stress about. i promise you will find your OWN comfortable way to feel and grow with Him. so, if you are trying to find a faith, and build a relationship with the Lord, this is what i encourage and recommend. putting your life down, praying, and digging in the Word. again, these are three of MANY ways (church, Godly friends, devotionals, bible studies, podcasts, books, testimonies, etc). but i think this is a good start. ❤

again, i am so thankful for this opportunity to help spread His love and Word. i am praying SO hard for each person who reads this. please know the Lord sees you, hears you, and loves you.

B. ❤

It is never about Jesus if it’s always about us.

I pray that The Lord may speak to you through me, I can only hope I can help you in your relationship with Christ.
