“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. YET God with undeserved kindness declares that we righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty of our sins”. Romans 3:23-24
I can’t count on my fingers how many times I sinned. Some darker than others. Some that are harder for me to swallow. And some that I don’t even realize I’m doing. But sinning is a continuous thing that I do. And that you do, too. Friend, I hate to burst your bubble, but you will always sin. It is written that we, humans, all fall short of His glory and will continue to do so.
There is good news. Great news. And if I could say so myself, the BEST NEWS. Because of how kind our God is, we are able to have a new life, by faith, in Him. When I say a new life, I mean a new perspective, a new type of joy, a new home, a new heart, a new way of living.
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord”. Romans 8:38-39
Your past doesn’t define you. Your mistakes don’t define you. Your old habits don’t define you. You are defined by God. And He calls you righteous, worthy, beloved, and His. You have the opportunity to turn your life around – your heart around – and have a new beginning. A new beginning where you don’t need to rely on anyone or anything else but Jesus. A new beginning to love yourself the way Jesus loves you. A new beginning to spend time with Him and learn who He is. A new beginning where if you lost everything, but Jesus, you would still have everything.
“Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing” Romans 4:17
You don’t have to stay where you are. Please don’t think you are too bad, unworthy, too dirty to come to Christ. Jesus surrounded Himself with the most broken and sinful people. He doesn’t choose favorites, He doesn’t choose only the “good”, He doesn’t pick some and not others. We don’t deserve this oh so compassionate, loving, kind, graceful, unfailing, counselor, healer, father, friend, Abba. He chooses you. I repeat, He chooses you and He chooses me. And He is waiting so patiently for you to get rid of the guilt, the dirt, the insecurities, the anger, the anxiety, and meet Him at His feet. Empty yourself of the trash – and fill yourself with the TRUTH. God loves you SO MUCH. So so much. His Son, Jesus, already took care of your sins. Your past sins, your current sins, and your future sins. But it is taken care of – it is FINISHED.
“God did this to demonstrate His righteousness, for He Himself is fair and just, and He declares sinners to be RIGHT in His sight when they believe in Jesus” Romans 3:26.
You are a holy child of God who deserves a new beginning. God desires you, He wants you, and He doesn’t need you. He has the whole world in His hands, but YET, He is still CHOOSING you.
Repent of your sins. Try day in and day out to become more like Christ. Ask for His strength to turn from those sins. Pray that Satan and temptation will FLEE. For God has already won. You can do this with God on your side, but you have to want it, wholeheartedly, with both feet on the path.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
Listen carefully though, friend. This is not an excuse to continue to use God when it’s convenient for you. This is not a free waiver to just take advantage of the Lords forgiveness and mercy. We KNOW our God will always forgive us, we KNOW our Gods mercies are new every morning, we KNOW God will always be there for us – so we do the sin anyways. THIS – THIS IS NOT a Christ-like life. This is NOT living a life for Jesus. This is NOT being a woman or man of God. This, unfortunately, is what we’re turning God into. We are using Him as a platform, as an excuse, and as a “feel good” moment for us. We go to church on Sunday, and that’s about it. I am not the judge – He is. He knows the intentions of each person, and the heart of each person. But, to live a new life, you have to surrender your all to Him and let go of yourself. For what He has in store for you is so much more than you can dream of.
“Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can on sinning? Of course not! Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living”. Romans 6:15-16
You have the chance to turn your life around. The old is gone and the new has come. Trust in His faithfulness and His plan. Let go of your wants and pick up His ways. Your sins don’t define you. Jesus has taken care of that – God defines you. Don’t lose out on the best decision of your life.
“And because you belong to Him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death” Romans 8:2
*Side note: This blog was all written out of the book of Romans. This was a letter from Paul to the Roman church. I HIGHLY recommend reading Romans chapters 2-8 if you are struggling with sin, feeling separated from Gods love, or feeling like you’re not worthy of His love*
It is never about Jesus if it’s always about us.
I pray that The Lord may speak to you through me, I can only hope I can help you in your relationship with Christ.
