“You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God”. 1 peter 3:4
to be honest, i never had that moment where i literally had a verse from the Spirit to keep ringing in my mind, but the Lord came through, and that day arrived yesterday. i didn’t think anything of it until i was thinking where i saw this verse (no where), or why i would think of it (no idea). so today i decided to look it up, and there it is. ^
but it wasn’t until i read the verses before and after it, that i put everything together. “Do not be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. This is how the holy women of old made themselves beautiful”. 1 peter 3:3-5.
ladies, beauty does nooott come from the outside appearance. i will be the first to tell you that i love getting dressed up, doing my makeup and hair, and feeling beautiful! and this is not saying at all that you cannot do that. but what is it saying, is that your beauty is not determined by the jewelry you wear, how your hair looks, the name brand you have on, or how much makeup you have on.
gents, it may seem like you can’t relate to this, but i promise you can. because i know that there are insecurities in guys, and i know that you may not feel good enough or handsome, because of what you look like, what your hair looks like, or what kind of clothes you wear.
do not tell yourself that you are only beautiful/handsome if…. because you ARE beautiful, you ARE handsome, you ARE loved, you ARE worthy, and it all comes from your heart. how you react, how you treat others, how you love one another, how you are spiritually, the words you use, the language&cuss words… the deep and honest person you are..is what determines your beauty. we are all made in the image in God, in His image. our hearts are meant to beautiful, our hearts are meant to be full of love, and our hearts are meant to be for Him. some times we need a heart check, a good conviction, and a new heart. “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your story; your stubborn and stony heart, and give you a tender, responsive, and gentle heart”. Ezekiel 36:26. THANK goodness our God can turn and change our hearts, so we are able to glorify and worship Him. so we can be and feel beautiful and handsome. so we can continue to be precious to Him.
this picture that i added in here is a lotus flower. this flower represents that beauty blossoms from the inside, because it does (i currently have this necklace on hehe). your beauty is not determined on what that number on the scale is. your beauty is not determined by how many pimples you have, or how many eyebrow hairs are out of place. and guess what? it is NOT determined by what you look like. it is something so much deeper, beauty has more meaning than that.
but remember, (particularly to my girlfriends), whats in your heart will come out. which includes how you dress. love yourself, be confident in yourself, but don’t be cocky and disrespectful to yourselves. cover yourself, be modest, be classy. make the guys wonder!! don’t put yourself out there, or else you are calling attention to yourselves. don’t feel the need to post a half naked picture to get more likes. how you dress and present yourself, reveals a lot about you. so take that new heart, and allow it show through how you reveal yourself to others. glorify God through it. make sure it is in pure, classy, and modest ways.
you are beautiful, you are handsome. and this is not because of whats on the outside, but whats in your heart. from a gentle and quiet spirit. from a God filled heart. from a loving and caring soul. this is the unfading type of beauty. the beauty that lasts a lifetime, even when wrinkles and gray hair appears. the beauty that is true.
It is never about Jesus if it’s always about us.
I pray that The Lord may speak to you through me, I can only hope I can help you in your relationship with Christ.
