When you think of God, or you think of Jesus, you probably think of religion, like most of us. We tend to think we need a religion to define us, or to live. But it’s not just about a religion. Its not just about what type of church you go to. Its a relationship. And once you find that relationship with Him, it is the most beautiful, confusing, eternal, holy, powerful thing you will ever discover.
Well, where do I start? Where do I find this “God”, where do I find this “relationship.” Your heart. Your heart makes you, you. Not your appearances, and how much editing you can do to your pictures, or even who you are on social media. Because that’s not you.. That’s someone you want to be seen as, someone you want people to think you are. The only people who know your true self, is yourself, and Jesus. Jesus knows you. Do you know Him? Not know of Him, but know Him. You have to want it. You have to have that desire to want to have that relationship with Him. You have to crave Him.
Jeremiah 29:12-13 says..”Then you will call upon Me and call and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
God made promises to you. Call to Him, seek Him, pray to Him, and you will find Him. Give to Him wholeheartedly.
To have a relationship with God, you don’t need to be baptized. You don’t need to memorize a certain amount of scriptures. Just spend time with Him. Find that creative routine with Christ to spend time with Him, and learn more about Him. It could be from doing devotionals, to praying, to reading The Word (which is very important), to praising Him, to coloring pictures of Him, anything to set your mind on Him and only Him.
But when you go pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.// Matthew 6:6
Allow that time to be just you and Him. Allow all distractions to be put away, and just spend time with Him.
You’re not perfect. Don’t try to be. Your relationship with Him will not be perfect. You’ll sin, and you will continue to do so until you die. However, that is not stopping your relationship with God. He will cleanse you. Confess your sins, and you shall be forgiven.
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.// Ephesians 1:7
Jesus died for you. And for me. And for my mom, your mom, your great great grandma, my teacher, everyone on this earth, He died for. Even before we were put on this earth. He died for our sins. Jesus died so that we could be forgiven, and be saved by His blood. By His Grace. Jesus loves you. He will love you after every sin you make, because He is Lord.
It’s not easy. It’s not going to happen over night. The devil will notice you trying to find that relationship with Christ, and grow closer to Him. As you get closer to God, the closer the devil gets to destroy you. To stop you. He will lie, he will pull you away. Satan will do everything in his power to stop you from seeking Jesus Christ. However, by God’s Grace, I promise you will overcome the devil.
Christ is eternal. This world is not. We are here, temporarily. While we’re here, as Christians, we are to serve Christ, we are to show His love, we are to spread His Word. There are many ways, and different ways to find that relationship with Christ. And maybe tonight’s your night to surrender your life to Him. Because at the end of the day, Christ cares for you and loves you, unconditionally.
I stared this blog in about January of 2016 to share His Word in a creative way. I was praying one night, and it kind of just came onto my heart.
I pray that The Lord may speak to you through me, I can only hope I can help you in your relationship with Christ.
