You know when someone is down or upset, they try and find something else to fill in that hole? Whether it be ice cream, sleeping, going for a run, and for some, getting drunk or high. When our moods shift to not so happy things, we want something to bring us that happiness that we feel like we don’t really have.
–I have an answer for you.. Jesus is the only thing that can fill that emptiness..
When I read scripture, pray, or even read devotionals, I find so much peace. It’s like the world stops and I’m just focused on God. Being happy is easy for some of us. We do and know some things that bring us joy and happiness. But is it genuine happiness?
To be genuinely happy is not temporary happiness. In another words, if you stop doing something you thought made you happy, and you ended up not happy then you weren’t genuinely happy.
When we go through rough situations, we want that happiness and that peace. Jesus will give that to you.
Take delight in The Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.// Psalm 37:4
Now don’t get me wrong. Knowing Jesus doesn’t mean nothing bad will happen in your life, or that you’ll always be happy. In fact, some of the most Christian people go through the worst things. My pastors wife passed away last September to another chapter of cancer. A local church around me lost a Christ centered couple to a car accident. My God fearing mom had to go through brain surgery and now taking care of her two Alzheimer’s parents. You will have your trials and tribulations, just like every other human. Us, Christians, aren’t anymore better or perfect than those who aren’t Christians. But when we have God and we have that relationship with Him, we trust Him. We allow Him to take over and have faith that what He is doing is for His purpose.
When you find happiness in Jesus Christ is when you can become genuinely happy. Knowing that someone loves you unconditionally, forgives you when you don’t deserve it, is there for you when you feel like no one else is, and knowing that God is your best friend, Father, Majesty, King, and Lord is when you find that true happiness and joy.
Its not easy and it defiantly won’t happen over night. In fact, it took me 3 years to find my genuine happiness.
Let not your hearts be troubles. Believe in God; believe also in Me.// John 14:1
Stop relying on temporary things to bring you happiness. Instead rely on God to bring you that happiness and peace you’ve been looking for that will be eternal. For He and His love are everlasting.
Are you genuinely happy with who you are and what you do? If not, maybe tonight’s your night to find that happiness, in Jesus Christ.
I stared this blog in about January of 2016 to share His Word in a creative way. I was praying one night, and it kind of just came onto my heart.
I pray that The Lord may speak to you through me, I can only hope I can help you in your relationship with Christ.
